ZOOM+, the innovator of on-demand healthcare and Performance Health Insurance, announced today a radical new approach to primary care with the opening of ZOOM+Prime at 3218 N.E. Broadway inPortland, Oregon.
ZOOM+Prime is for people who want to prevent or reverse chronic illness such as diabetes, autoimmune disease and heart disease using food, movement and relationships as medicine. It departs from the status quo of reactive acute care and prescription drugs to a proactive emphasis on personalized health coaching. The innovative primary care platform includes medical care via video and email, and health coaching and classes at the ZOOM+Prime Health Training Center.
"We now know that the epidemic in noninfectious diseases is rooted in the modern Western diet and lifestyle, and that eliminating them requires a radically new culture of primary care," says Dave Sanders, M.D., co-founder and CEO of ZOOM+. "ZOOM+Prime redefines primary care with a personalized path to a new way of living and a promise of longer life and lifelong health."
At its core is the ZOOM+Prime 90 program tailored "To Get Off Your Meds in 90 Days". The sequence includes in-person assessments and labs at the ZOOM+Prime Health Training Center, regular medical check-ins with a board-certified provider via video and email, lifestyle coaching and classes in the studio's test kitchen on healthy meal preparation and movement. It even includes a visit to New Seasons grocery store next door for a lesson on shopping for a plant-based diet.
"The healthcare industry is consolidating and disinvesting in primary care at a time when chronic diseases like diabetes are increasing," says Craig McDougall, M.D., ZOOM+Prime Practice Lead and a nationally recognized expert in plant-based medicine. "We provide the opposite at ZOOM+Prime to achieve what industrial medicine assumes to be impossible: preventing and reversing chronic disease."
The ZOOM+Prime Club is free to ZOOM+Performance Health Insurance members. Non-members can pay $30.00 per month plus other health insurance co-pay. Prime Club members gain access to food and movement classes, as well as access to providers via e-mail, text and chat.
ZOOM+Prime is one of three primary care platforms offered by ZOOM+, all based on three components: cloud-based medical care, health coaching and classes at ZOOM+Health Training Centers. ZOOM+Performance opened on September 1, 2015 and the third platform will be offered in early Fall, 2015.
In May, 2015 ZoomCare became ZOOM+ and transformed from an on-demand care provider to a complete healthcare delivery system with health insurance built in. ZOOM+Prime goes beyond what is offered in healthcare delivery systems, and will play a critical role in preventing the chronic diseases that require costly interventions, helping to deliver "Twice the Health, and Half the Cost and Ten Times the Delight" to ZOOM+ customers.
